Vancouver BC via Dublin, Ireland
Revolution Above Disorder is the ever-evolving Vancouver-based neopsych/shoegaze project led by Irish expat Stav de Faoite, augmented by Mat Durie (guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), and Cody Hiles (drums). The band deals in distorted drones, textured guitars, and the lurking presence of analog electronics to shape an expansive soundscape that is at once introspective and urgent.
The songs trace the broken, beautiful edges of the human condition: personal struggle, desire, self-interrogation, and the lure of escapism. Their forthcoming debut LP, Crystallized, engages these themes with clarity and intensity, offering a focused, atmospheric body of work. Crystallized will be released through Little Cloud Records in Summer 2026.
Onstage, Revolution Above Disorder delivers a dense, unyielding pulse - percussive, cathartic, and unrelenting. The band has performed alongside acts such as A Place To Bury Strangers, Holy Wave, MØAA, The KVB, New Candys, The Asteroid #4, Creux Lies, and Mint Field, appearing at events including the launch of Desert Daze North and Verboden Festival. Their tracks have been remixed by artists such as A Place to Bury Strangers, Jagz Kooner, Dave Clarke, Tim Holmes and Pete Holmstrom.
"Annihilator is dense and well-constructed, with an outstanding production, and it proves to be a wonderfully melancholic and all-around intriguing listen. Annihilator, which was recorded amid the most frantic days of the Covid-19 crisis, tackles themes of despair, nihilism and self-destruction, and sees Revolution Above Disorder reaching a new high point. - Destroy//Exist
"Somewhere out there, Trent Reznor and Oliver Ackermann are taking notes. The song is brilliantly conceived..." - The Revue
"Psychedelic and psychotic, adventurous and antagonistic…this is classic Revolution Above Disorder" - The Big Takeover
"‘Annihilator’ is a febrile, organic slab of brooding, atmospheric goth pop which prowls in the half light with a delicious intensity. The waves of cold vibrant synths unfold underneath White’s disconnected and louche vocals: studied and enigmatic, haunting and ominous with chilling lyrics that have a post-apocalyptical foreboding...The result has a heady dynamism under its relentless gothic groove." - Backseat Mafia.
"...stunning and sonically enthralling" - Amplify Music Mag.
"The message seems to call for radical change to erase the woes of greed, failed romance and ‘meaningless’ pursuits. However, by creating such attractive music, White nullifies the very nihilism he presents." - Synthbeat
"Stephen Nicholas White dives off the deep end, into the dark side, with not much more than a Gary Newman synth, one dark piano note and a sound drum pattern laid down by ACTORS's drummer Adam Fink...Circa 1980 is totally back alive and kicking it seems" - WoNo Magazine
"Revolution Above Disorder create another disquieting synth heavy anthem in the vein of Suicide/Jesus Mary Chain/Black Rebel Motorcyle Club" - The Ginger Quiff
“'Illuminate' is a dream-laden psychedelic groove, sighing with cinematic vocals over a soft wall of shuddering sound that weaves guitars and synths around a hypnotic melody." - Post-Punk.com
"His new single ‘Illuminate’ is a delicious slice of dark, foreboding shoegaze with a Jesus and Mary Chain sneery disdain and a My Bloody Valentine chainsaw buzz. Deeply formed melodies flow under the insistant rhythmic thunder with a disassociated air and opaque lyrics" - Backseat Mafia
"...if White was looking for a sonic something that balanced out the familiar and innovative, something cold yet calming, something futuristic while rooted in retro electro, then he has solidly hit the nail on the head here." - Spill Magazine
"...he channels the better elements of such bands as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spiritualized, Lush and Catherine Wheel, to name just a few artists that come to mind" - Amplify Music Mag
